Chrissy (Baltimore, Maryland)
We found Chrissy just days before she was due to be put to sleep in a shelter. Not knowing anything about her history, we pulled her immediately and transported her to Baltimore to be foster. When she arrived, she was scared, hurting and confused. What hair she had left was in giant mats down to the skin, dirty, smelly and causing her great discomfort. Covering the rest of her body was red irritated skin, any hair had been itched or rubbed off. She wouldn't let anyone touch her but always tried to be close. After a scary trip to the Emergency Room her second night, she was shaved bald and transformed immediately into a new dog. As soon as all that hair was gone and some anti itch medications applied, she trotted around with a smile, trying to jump into laps and eagerly taking any treat offered. Over the next months, she discovered she loved bones to chew on, couches to sleep on and, surprisingly, playing fetch- but her favorite was going for walks, bouncing around every time a leash was picked up. She was still wary of strangers, but would politely let them pet her for a moment before she wandered away to find more interesting things to do. Within just a couple months, Chrissy caught the eye of a wonderfully loving couple in Massachusetts, where she now resides. She thoroughly enjoys being the princess of the house and having laps to lay on to her heart's content.
